Holiday Traditions

Many people enjoy the holiday season around the world. There are different traditions like giving out gifts, cooking different foods, and decorating. Since there are many holidays throughout the year, everyone has a different favorite.

During the Christmas season, people enjoy putting up decorations around their house. While walking down the street in this season, you will notice how it’s full of lights from the houses all around. Stores are full of decorations like Christmas lights, Christmas trees, and ornaments. One thing people look forward to is the two to three week break. The break is one week before Christmas following New Years.

New Year is celebrated by all different types of religions because it’s not a religious holiday. It’s followed by traditions such as staying up until 12:00 am, eating “luck food” and lighting up fireworks. During New Years, people look forward to accomplishing new goals. A main goal that most people have is doing good in school or being a hard worker. One thing people do on New Years Eve is hanging out with their friends and talking about what they look forward to.

Some holidays that many celebrate in America are usually Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Valentines day, and New years day. Around the world there are also different holidays you may not have heard of, such as Diwali, Eid, Chinese new year, and Kwanzaa. There are even holidays that no one knows of since there are a total of 122 diverse holidays around the world.
