Love Island is a popular dating show where attractive singles are chosen to live together in a secluded villa. The villa is closely monitored by cameras and viewers watch the islanders “couple up” for love, friendship, and a cash prize of $100,000.
Now imagine your dream villa filled with the internet’s biggest heartthrobs. That’s exactly what we asked our fellow Aviators in honor of Valentine’s Day. A survey was sent out for students of all grade levels to choose their top five celebrity picks for both male and female contestants in our very own “HMSA Love Island.” The results revealed some common trends and surprising favorites about today’s celebrity culture.
We came up with the list by looking at the most popular celebrities right now and also collected a few student input. Most people were eager to give their recommendations and it was quite simple to come up with the list of possible contestants.
The survey was sent out in the format of a google form that had two questions. One for the men and the other for women. We asked HMSA students to pick their top 5 from each gender. We gave students about two days to complete the form and we sent it out to as many students as we could.
For male options we included:
Jacob Elordi
Taehyung BTS
Jonathan Bailey
Micheal B Jordan
Henry Cavil
David Cornsweet
Canelo Alvarez
Chad Micheal Murray
Dylan O’Brien
Tom Welling
Cha Eun Woo
Obama
Gavin Newsom
Raul Alejandro
Connor Storie
Ralph Macchio
Matt Dillion
Jude Bellingham
Joao Felix
Kota Miura
Park Bo Gum
Woo Do Hwan
Jordan Carter
NLE Choppa
Hudson Williams
For the female options we included:
Beyonce
Zendaya
Jenna Ortega
Sana TWICE
Madelyn Cline
Ayo Edibiri
Jang Wonyoung
Adriana Lima
Angelina Jolie
Billie Ellish
Margot Robbie
Megan Fox
Winona Ryder
Amybeth McNulty
Blake Livey
Millie Bobby Brown
Leighton Meester
Chaewon Lesserafim
Sabrina Carpenter
Kamala Harris
Emma D’arcy
Kristen Stewart
Katie Jane Garside
Tara Lynne Barr
We tried to predict what the top 3 picks would be. We predicted Jacob Elordi, Micheal B Jordan, and Teahyung from BTS to be the top picks for the guys. For girls, we predicted Zendaya, Jenna Ortega, and Margot Robbie to be the top picks. Once the survey went out, candidates like Micheal B Jordan and Zendaya quickly took the lead and stayed at the top the entire time. It was not a surprising result because we knew they would dominate. The most surprising result was Margot Robbie because we believed she would at least make it into the top 5. Surprisingly, Robbie received a whopping 7.7% of the votes, meaning out of all the responses, only three people voted for her. For the male candidates, the most surprising was Raul Alejandro who surpassed both Jacob Elordi and Taehyung and shot up to 2nd place right behind Micheal B Jordan.
Overall, the top picks for the men were Micheal B. Jordan, Rauw Alejandro, and Jude Bellingham, while Zendaya, Megan Fox, and Billie Eilish rounded out the top three for the women. Honorable mentions like Jenna Ortega, Adriana Lima, Chad Michael Murray, and Tom Welling were just a few votes away from breaking into the top rankings. As shown by the results, Aviators who filled out the survey clearly have a very diverse type, ranging from mainstream stars like Rauw Alejandro and Billie Eilish to iconic actors such as Chad Michael Murray and Megan Fox. If this were a real Love Island villa, it would definitely be a chaotic mix of generations, fandoms, and personalities–definitely many viewers entertained from day one.
The “HMSA Love Island” survey was a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, bringing together Aviators from all grade levels and giving a glimpse into which celebrities they would pull for a chat if they were actually in the Love Island villa. Students jumped in quickly, proving that opinions form fast when a “recoupling” is on the line. Overall, the results captured the playful chaos that makes Love Island so entertaining.
