Keeping Up with One Direction

On January 26, an early Tuesday morning, the One Direction boys decided to drop the music video for “History.” (The music video is below!) As if it wasn’t enough, the following day, member Louis Tomlinson posted a photo of himself and his baby boy, Freddie Tomlinson. To make the fandom even crazier than it already is, ex-boyband member Zayn Malik dropped his first single and music video named “Pillow Talk”. He also announced that he will be at Wango Tango for his first solo performance. I guess you can say that it’s been a hectic month for many One Direction and Zayn fans.

First of all, many of you may be thinking “I thought One Direction went on hiatus? So why is Kathleen talking about them yet again?” Well let me tell you, although the boys are on break, the drama never seems to stop. Let’s start off with the release of History’s music video. Prior to the release of the music video, Simon Cowell (who was the reason for One Direction) said that the video made him emotional. This caused panic among the One Direction fandom. After seeing this tweet, many One Direction fans were not ready for the emotional distress that the music video will put on them. Talk of the music video dies down a little, and there’s still no set date for the official release. But all of a sudden, it gets released. Imagine the chaos of fans in school scrambling to the nearest source of internet to watch it, because this is actually what happened. The video starts off with the boys standing and dancing around, and right when you thought it couldn’t get any better, old videos of One Direction started to play. Talk about a stab in the heart right? And to make matters worse, Zayn was in most of the videos, sending Directioners everywhere into hysteria. Fast forward three days later, Zayn releases his first song “Pillow Talk”. Along with this, he releases the music video which features supermodel and girlfriend, Gigi Hadid. The reactions with this one were mixed. Some appreciated the song, but others believed that he could’ve done better. No matter what though, fans will continue to support him.

In other news besides music, the boys have seemed very busy. Going back to the topic of Louis becoming a father, many fans accepted the fact and were very happy for him. Freddie Reign Tomlinson was born on January 21, 2016. Although Louis wasn’t present for his birth, he came around a few days later to meet his little boy. He posted a heart melting picture of him and Freddie, introducing him to everyone.

Although Louis is no longer with Briana Jungwirth (the mother of Freddie), he seems to be in a good relationship with her. A couple days ago, Louis was spotted with girlfriend Danielle Campbell. They were roaming around Venice together attending a party.

In Harry Styles news, the cheeky British boy turned 22 on February 1st. This was an emotional day for fans around the world. Harry is the youngest member of the band. Harry’s birthday was very bittersweet. We’ve watched him grow up to be such a gentleman who is now confident of himself. We’ve watched him grow from an 18 year old teenage boy, to a grown man. Rumors about Harry has been circulating the news. It is said that he’s dropped Modest! Management, which is the management that manages One Direction. After hearing this, many fans became worried, talk of Harry going solo was seen all over Twitter and Instagram. This still has to be confirmed, so don’t worry fellow Directioners, Harry’s still part of the One Direction crew.

Members Niall Horan and Liam Payne have been on the down low ever since the hiatus. The only news surrounding them is Liam’s new tattoo and Niall in Australia. The two seem to be having fun and enjoying their break. Wherever they are right now, I hope that they stay happy and drama-free, unlike the rest of the boys right now.

As you can see, keeping up with the One Direction fandom is stressful and very time consuming. Can you believe that this is only the third month of an eighteen month hiatus? The fandom seems to have entered 2016 with a little drama, but are happy with the boys no matter what. Let’s hope that the next fifteen months are drama free and happy, and that it passes by quickly.
