Album Review: Prince’s Purple Rain
Purple Rain is one of the most best-selling albums worldwide. It was released in the year of 1984 by one of the most famous singers in the world, Prince. Prince was an artist full of talent. He was an actor, singer, and a songwriter.
The instrumental to every song on the album must have been created with lots of passion and good, positive energy. Most of the songs with have you at least nodding your head to the beat; no wonder why this album is a top-seller!
Prince starts off the beginning of “Let’s Go Crazy” with a statement that people will forever remember,”Dear beloved, we’re gathered here today to get through this thing we call ‘life’.” Already, that has a person wondering, “Hmm…what is this song going to be about?” Then, the upbeat instrumental starts, and it can just have the listener move to the beat.
“Take Me With U” is a song that talks about how a person doesn’t want to be away from their significant other. The lyrics are,”I don’t care where we go, I don’t care what we do, I don’t care pretty baby, just take me with you.” The song expresses lots of feelings the one would have for someone they love, and many people can relate to that; therefore, this could be one of my favorites from the album.

The third song, “The Beautiful Ones,” has a bit of a slower beat. I like that he includes songs that have more of a beat that you can dance crazy to; but then, slows it down to a point where you can still into the song and the lyrics.
“Computer Blue” starts with a slow beat, then the sound gets louder; and the beat gets faster. Prince has the beat change several times in this song, as well. He goes from no guitar, to no guitar, to guitar solo. His voice is also not heard very much in this song, but he makes up for it with the creativity in the beat of the song.

“When Doves Cry” is one of the most popular songs on the album of Purple Rain. The song shows the unique, yet original ideas of the gifted artist.

Purple Rain is a soundtrack from the movie that Prince actually starred in. Both the movie and the album, were a great success in Prince’s career. Although the album and movie were a success, the way Prince was as an artist with full of creativity sparked the way people looked at his skills and talents. The world has lost another legend in the year of 2016. May he rest in peace.
