On January 9, HMSA’s boys varsity soccer team won their home game against New Roads; their final score of five to nothing. Previously, they had lost a game against Lennox Academy, falling one to nothing. Fortunately, the boys soccer team were able to bounce back from that loss and came up with a huge blowout victory against New Roads. With their overall record now 1 and 5 (and league record 1-2),the boys soccer team will be trying to win their next game against Wildwood. Currently, the team is sitting with a 1-2 record at home. With their current away record of 0-3, they will be trying to get their first win against Wildwood on the Friday, the 12th.

Aaron Morales, the team’s leading scorer, was able to hit four goals throughout the match. Prior to Tuesday’s game against New Roads, Erick M. commented on the types of practice plays the team went through. In an interview, Erick commented saying, “Some of the practice plays [included] passing the ball to the wings, where our left or right midfielder would run up the sideline and center the ball where our strikers would be waiting to [kick] the ball in the goal.” Post-game, Erick offered his overall opinion and thoughts on the whole team’s success in delivering the victory. He complimented and mentioned the team’s great effort in scoring the goals. He also mentioned imposing their “dominance” during the beginning of the game.

Moreover, Ndubuisi A. also shared his thoughts and commented highly of the team’s overall effort during the game, saying, “It was a good game and an easy win for us. We played as a team and supported each other on and off the field.” With the victory at hand, the boys soccer team is filled with more confidence and energy heading into the upcoming game.

The HMSA’s boys soccer team will be heading off to face against Wildwood in a road trip game. This time, they’re coming in with a lot of confidence, hoping to get their first win  at an away game. Hopefully, the team can also even up their league record to 2-2.
