Getting To Know Ms. Brandon

Diana Rounaque, Editor

This year, HMSA welcomes Ms. Brandon as the new environmental teacher. I had the opportunity to interview her and learn more about her.

Where did you go for college?

“I attended Northern Arizona University.”

Where were you working prior to HMSA?

“Prior to coming to HMSA, I taught at Burbank. I taught both geoscience and biology. Even before that, I did environmental education in Big Bear for five years.”

What’s been the most interesting thing you’ve experienced at HMSA?

“I would think the most interesting thing would be the maturity of the students. I have not worked with seniors before so I’ve seen a totally different maturity level.”

Any hobbies/fun facts?

“There is a lot of fun facts about me! I love to go surfing. Also, I teach rock climbing outside of school. I like to travel a lot. Recently, I traveled to Iceland, and I’ve been around Europe.”

Do you have any books to recommend?

The Magicians book series is a great series I just finished reading. However, they aren’t related to the environment or science at all.”
