Who Died on the Season 6 Finale of The Walking Dead?

[WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM THE WALKING DEAD TELEVISION SERIES AND COMICS]

We saw it coming. After gripping at the edge of our seats for the passed few weeks wondering when Negan would make his appearance, he finally reveals himself and his signature barbed wire bat, Lucille. And things are not looking pretty for our little band of survivors.

Let’s have a quick recap about what went down on this week’s episode of The Walking Dead. Morgan finds Carol! She’s not pleased to see him, of course. She runs away from him and nearly gets eaten by a Walker. Then, she runs into a Savior whose friends she’d killed earlier. Awkward. He shoots her twice in the arm in an attempt to watch her die slowly, but is killed by Morgan who completely broke his “all life is precious” philosophy. Well all life is not precious, Morgan. At least not to the Saviors.

To them, every life is useful.

Every time Negan comes across a group, he gives them the option to work for him or die. He delivers this same shocking ultimatum to Rick’s group, but it also came at a price. One of them had to die as punishment for murdering a bunch of Negan’s men, the Saviors, a few episodes back. He makes them all go on their knees, even poor Maggie who’s having problems with her pregnancy, and starts this brutal game of “Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe.” Seriously. He lands on one of our beloved heroes and then begins to bash him/her repeatedly in the head. The audience don’t know who’s at the receiving end of Negan’s bat. All we get to see is Negan swinging Lucille as blood drips from the edges of our television screen before the whole scene blacks out. That’s not the end of the episode, though. We still hear our beloved group’s terrifying screams as one of their own gets brutally killed at the hands of our newest antagonist, Negan.

Who do you think Negan killed?

Prediction: possibly died

As much as I hate to say it, Glenn just might’ve been the one at the receiving end of Negan’s bat. Everyone expects it to be Glenn because it happened in the comics, but then again maybe AMC could be trolling with us. Yeah, they do that a lot. Remember when we thought Glenn had died a few episodes back when really he was just hiding underneath a dumpster? Then again maybe they think we don’t expect Glenn to die because we’d think it’d just be typical if they went by his death in the comics. So, they decide to follow his death in the comics afterall! (I hope that all made sense. It’s kind of like reverse psychology). Anyway, the show changes things up all the time and I am keeping my fingers crossed that Glenn doesn’t meet the same fate he does in the comics.

Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan)

Prediction: possibly died

Maggie didn’t look too good in the season finale. Maybe AMC decided to switch Glenn and Maggie’s fate in the comics for the show? Again, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s neither of them. Ugh! Why did someone have to die?!? (I know I shouldn’t complain. Actress Yvette once said in the Talking Dead that you can’t watch a zombie show and expect no one to die. It’s like watching a soap opera and getting mad that there’s a kissing scene).

Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz)

Prediction: possibly died

In the comics, Abraham died after taking an arrow to the eye just like Denise did about three weeks ago in the show. Since Denise took his comic book fate, Abraham just might have been the one who died this Sunday. He won’t have any role to fill in anymore with his comic counterpart gone. Also, he’s grown a lot this season.

We’ve watched him fall in love with Sasha, fall out of love with Rosita, and accept Eugene as a friend and survivor. His dumb, yet hilarious commentary adds onto these great characteristics. Like I said before, AMC has a knack for killing characters off right after we start warming up to them. Remember Beth Greene?

Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt)

Prediction: lives

He just started proving himself.

Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green)

Prediction: lives

Sasha has gone through tremendous amount of loss. She’s a strong survivor who’s overcome her internal demons and has finally started to love again. If AMC decides to kill her off (again, I hope not), it won’t be this way.

Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos)

Prediction: lives

She needs more screentime. I really like Rosita, but I’m not as attached to her as I am with other round characters because she hardly shows up on screen. And when she does, she’s just in the background fighting. Although she’s had more screentime recently, I still think her character has much, much to learn.

Rick (Andrew Lincoln)

Prediction: lives

Rick did not die and is not going to die. Maybe in the last episode of the whole television series, but for now, he’s not dying anytime soon.

Aaron (Ross Marquand)

Prediction: lives

Like Rosita, I feel like there’s still so much more to Aaron that we haven’t learned about yet. I don’t think he’s dying anytime soon. AMC does that. We have to grow attached to a character before they rip out our hearts and bash their brains with a barbed wire bat.

Michonne (Danai Gurira)

Prediction: lives

The official Richonne ship just started. AMC wouldn’t ruin this for us… would they?

Carl (Chandler Riggs)

Prediction: lives

Carl definitely didn’t die. The poor kid’s been shot twice already. He’s suffered enough. Besides if he died, who’s going to let Enid out of the closet?

Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus)

Prediction: immortal

Sure, Norman Reedus is a part of a new reality show called Ride, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s leaving The Walking Dead. Fans are freaking out (understandably so) because Norman also joined Chris Hardwick on the Talking Dead last Sunday and there’s a false assumption going around that if a character shows up on the Talking Dead, then they’re on deathroll. Again, this is just an assumption that’s been proven false many, many times. Melissa Mcbride who plays Carol was a guest on the Talking Dead a few weeks ago and her character’s just fine! I mean, she currently has two bullet wounds, but she’s going to be just fine! Carol, as Rick had said once before, is “the force of nature.” And no doubt, so is Daryl. There is no way Scott Gimple and Robert Kirkman would be willing to kill Daryl off. His character is iconic. This show may revolve around Rick Grimes, but let’s face it: there wouldn’t be a Walking Dead show without our beloved Daryl Dixon. There are also way too many “IF DARYL DIES, WE RIOT” shirts.
