The Shannara Chronicles – Recap: “Fury” and “Changeling” (1×03 and 1×04)
The demons are back at it again and this time will they be defeated? Last time we were left wondering if Wil and Amberle would be taken in the hands of the demon Challenging, but as episode three began we saw that Allanon came right in time. Episode three of the Shannara Chronicles aired February 14, 2016.
Allanon and Challenging battled each other each other and Allanon was able to defeat it, but soon after he notices that Challenging had left him wounded. Amberle tries to help her aunt Pyria in a hope that she might still be alive after being attacked by Challenging in the previous episode. Amberle is then stopped by Allanon, who tells her that she is gone. Allanon also tells Amberle about Lorin being dead. You must be wondering who Lorin is? Well I’m guilty to confess that I forgot to mention him in the previous recap, since I viewed him as not important. I guess now I have to explain it to all of you. Lorin was Amberle’s love interest since he is now dead, who was one of the seven Choosen as well. Amberle is devastated by this news and leaves, but Wil goes after her. Wil and Amberle start connecting with each other as they both have lost someone very special to them. Unluckily, this bonding soon stops as Allanon falls to the ground.
Allanon demands to be taken to a place he has on his map. Once they take him there he insists for them to continue back to Arbolon, but instead Wil insists on curing Allanon. Wil and Amberle soon go to a river having a type of healing mud. Wil goes in the river like a mighty hero, while Amberle stays there waiting for Wil to come back. When Wil comes out of the river, he finds out that Amberle has been captivated by Eretria. Yes, Eretria is back and this time she is accompanied by her Rover clan! Eretria holds Amberle and on Amberle’s neck, Eretria has her knife placed there ready to slit her throat. The Rovers kidnap Wil and Amberle and take them to their you can say home. Back in the place where Allanon is he is able to to recover from his wound, which makes Wil and Amberle’s efforts to save him useless. Once Wil and Amberle are in Rover territory, Eretria’s stepfather tells Wil to join the Rover clan and tells him to give him a response later at a feast. Eretria’s stepfather’s real intentions is to learn how to unlock the Elfstones given to him in the previous episode and soon after kill both Wil and Amberle, but this they don’t know. At the feast where Wil tells Eretria’s stepfather about not joining the Rover clan, Fury the demon comes flying from the sky. Eretria’s stepfather is left scared since he didn’t believe Wil when he told him about demons beginning to rise. That is when Wil for the first time learns how to use the Elftones and holds them up in the sky until the power coming from the Elfstones burn Fury. Wil never have done this ever in his life falls to the ground with a burned hand, where he carried the Elfstones. Allanon soon rescues both Amberle and Wil from the Rovers and brings Wil back to his conscious state after using the Elfstones. They go back to Arbolon, but before arriving there they find Bandon, who was looked in a barn. Amberle insists in taking him back to Arbolon and once arrived there Wil says that his job is done here since he has brought back Amberle safe and sound. Bandon convinces Wil not to leave Amberle since she will need him. Wil convinces the poeple in the Elven Kingdom to let Amberle go inside the Ellcrys to try to revive it before it’s too late. Episode three ends as Amberle touches the Ellcrys and a door opens and then we are left hanging to find out what will happen. I hope you are comfortable because next up is episode 4, which aired February 19, 2016. Will Amberle be allowed by the Ellcrys to take the Ellcrys seed to Safehold? Well the answer is yes. Once Amberle enters the Ellcrys , she is given tests to pass and one of them is to kill Wil, but this Wil is totally different from the Wil outside the Ellcrys since he wears all black clothing. Now the demons back in their home are planning a scheme and this scheme involves killing Amberle , so she is not able to save the Ellcrys tree. After Amberle comes out of the Ellcys tree ,Wil sees that something is wrong with Amberle, but Amberle refuses to tell him the real problem and instead tells him that she is scared to do this important task and warns him about controlling his feelings. Eretria again comes back seeking the Elfstones to bring back to her stepfather before he kills her. Eretria finds Wil and flirts with him and apologizes to Wil for everything and eventually kisses him and well you know what happens next after two persons kiss. While Wil is still sleeping Eretria takes the Elfstones again. Challenging seeing Eretria decides to go inside her body, pretending to be her. Challenging being in Eretria’s body tries to kill Amberle, but fails. When Eretria not Challenging in Eretria’s body is caught, she tries to convince Amberle and Eventine about not trying to do anything of harm to neither Wil or Amberle. Wil anounces that Eretria just came for the Elftones and that she is lying as Will grabs the Elfstones back from Eretria. Amberle later questions Wil about the way in which Eertria got hold of the Elfstones again and Wil not wanting to tell her about the kissing encounter, tells her a lie. Allanon and the rest figure out a plan in which they could use Eretria as bait for the demons. Bandon the guy found in the barn previously shares a vision where Amberle is dead alongside Eretria. Wil and Amberle tell Eretria about the plan and threaten her to either be part of the plan or be punished for stealing the Elfstones. Eretria says yes to the plan ,but lets us wondering if she agreed to the plan to be closer to Wil? Then, we see all of them head to there destination ,which is Safehold and episode 4 ends.
