New Music Friday – Week 5
Welcome to another installment of New Music Friday!
Tatiana Manaois is an amazing singer/songwriter. I first discovered her on YouTube and on Vine. Many of you may not know who she is, but you may have heard of snippets of her song “Helplessly”. “Helplessly” first blew up on Vine, and spread like wildfire. Everyone soon had their own renditions of the song, including Shawn Mendes. Tatiana Manaois is known for this song which includes the famous lyrics, “See you distract me, but I’m distracted without you; I don’t know how to focus, baby teach me how to.” Everyone soon became in love with the song and her voice. Tatiana is also known for her love songs that can either bring you to tears or make you feel all fuzzy inside. Tatiana has two albums named “Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Pain” and “Lovely” which can be streamed on Spotify. Below is the video for the cute, heartwarming song “Helplessly”.
Daya, is a rising artist, who’s had her song “Hide Away” playing on the radio non-stop. Every time I’m in the car, one station has to be playing her. Her song “Hide Away” was released in October of last year, but is only gaining popularity now. Daya is similar to the music style of Alessia Cara, who was mentioned in our last installment. Daya is another rising star; she’s only seventeen. She joins the group of successful teen artists, along with Shawn Mendes and Alessia Cara. Attached below is her Spotify, make sure to go and give her a listen!
Another artist that I’ve discovered and have been listening to lately is gnash. One day while I was browsing on Spotify, he came up on my recommended list and I gave him a listen. I’m so glad I did. Many of you may not know him, but if you’re on the app “Musical.ly” a lot, you’ve probably heard his song “i hate you i love u”. Gnash has a very chill and laid back vibe to his music. Most of his songs have to do with love, but that shouldn’t stop you from listening. Many of his lyrics are relatable, and personally, I can connect with most of his songs. As of now, gnash is an artist on the low. Not many know about his music, and he doesn’t have an official Youtube account. Below is the link to his Twitter account. Make sure to follow him to stay updated with new music. Make sure to give him a listen before he blows up as a huge artist!
This next artist has been in the spotlight for awhile now, and that is Tori Kelly. Tori Kelly started off her singing career on YouTube. You can actually go find her on YouTube and listen to all her original songs and covers. Early in her career, she also auditioned for American Idol, only to be rejected by Simon Cowell. This didn’t stop her though; Tori kept on singing because it was her passion. She continued to post on YouTube until she caught the attention of Scooter Braun, who also happens to be the manager of Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. She recently came out with her debut album, “Unbreakable Smile”. Tori’s voice is honestly flawless. When watching her sing, she sings the highest notes as if it’s nothing. Tori’s been in the limelight for awhile now, and everyone is loving her. Recently, she’s also been nominated for the “Best New Artist” in this year’s Grammy’s! The video below is of one of Tori’s first original songs. Make sure to tune in to the Grammy’s on February 15, and find out if Tori wins “Best New Artist”
And last but not least, we can not forget about the Queen herself. As you all may have heard, over the weekend Beyonce dropped a new single called “Formation”. With this surprise release, the BeyHive went crazy. But this isn’t the first time that Queen Bey has dropped a surprise on us. The last time she released an album, she did it as a surprise, and surprised us with music videos too! Fans on Twitter have been expressing so much joy with Beyonce and her new music video. People have also started to interpret the music video and the lyrics to her song. The video and the lyrics are open to your opinion, so make sure to watch the video! Beyonce has also announced a new world tour coming soon, so save up and you might just be able to see her perform live!
