I had just gotten to the table I sit at for lunch when I checked my phone to see if I had any text messages, as usual. Like another “usual” I do at the beginning of lunch, I checked Facebook, expecting a bunch of notifications saying my mom had tagged me in yet another post. To my surprise, I had no notifications but there were a lot of new trends trending on Facebook. As I opened the trending tags, one specific headline immediately caught my eye: My Chemical Romance.

I have never tapped on a trend so quickly in my life. I was way too excited for whatever the piece of news was. For all of you who are unaware why this trend was so important to me (and other MCR fans), My Chemical Romance broke up in 2013 and everyday I hope I will wake up and they will be back together.

As I clicked on the first link to an article talking about the topic, I saw MCR’s former vocalist, Gerard Way, tweeted the first photos of the exclusive Funko Pop! collectible figurines going on sale soon.

If you’ve ever walked into Hot Topic (my favorite store, by the way), you’ll see a wall entirely covered with these little figurines. Funko makes collectible figurines for popular TV shows (The Walking Dead, Orange is the New Black, Doctor Who), movies (Harry Potter, Guardians of the Galaxy), and now music artists.

These My Chemical Romance figurines will be the first figurines Funko releases for music artists. For the My Chemical Romance collection, the figurines announced so far are Gerard Way during The Black Parade era, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge era, and an exclusive Skeleton Mask Gerard Way.

I found a few fans on campus and decided to write about what they felt. Junior Christina G. had no idea about the news, even days after the news was revealed. “No, oh my god, show me!” she was quick to answer as soon as I told her I had pictures of what the figurines looked like. I followed to ask her which figurine she decided was her favorite and she chose Black Parade Gerard. I also asked Senior Maria S. and she was quick to admit that her first reaction to the news was a scream. (And I can’t lie and say I didn’t do the same thing.) She told me her favorite was Revenge Era Gerard. When I broke the news to her that the figurine was sold out, we both agreed that the minute it was back in stock, we’d be the first in line to buy it.

Figurines for the other three members — Ray Toro, Mikey Way, Frank Iero — have not been revealed, but I’m hoping they’re revealed soon.
