After a long and hard-fought season, the title for Coastal League Champions for the Aviators was on the line. Just fifteen minutes into the game, senior Nicholas Olivas bagged a goal that would go on to seal first place for the Aviators.
With this result, the boys soccer team went on to compete in their play-offs known as CIF. They began their run for a title and trophy. In the first round, they played St. Anthony where the rain was coming down as were their hopes at halftime. It was then that Coach Duran gave a speech to his players that could have motivated anybody to run through a wall! Then like nothing, Adam Osmali scores with close to fifteen minutes left in the second half.
The game went overtime and Nick Olivas scored a goal off a corner kick acting as the golden goal, giving them a pass to the next round. The next round took the Aviators to Nuview Bridge where they were down 1-0 in the first half.
During the second half, they scored three unanswered goals by Adam Osmali and Diego De La Torre, which gave them a win and another pass to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, they faced Glenn High School away from home. The game was left at 0-0 for some time before Glenn found the back of the net. In the second half, Glen then scored two unanswered goals, which eliminated the Aviators.
In a final show of team spirit, Coach Duran called the team together and gave his closing speech. Tears were flowing as the Aviators held their heads high, walking off of Glen field.
