Girls Basketball

The Girls Varsity Basketball team had their very first game of the season against Seed on November 13, 2023. The girls won their game with an incredible score of 44-5.  Currently, the team is in CIF Semifinals, with a recent 43-21 win against Southlands Christian on February 10th and an upcoming game against Antelope Valley today, February 14th.

Before the season began, I interviewed the Girls Basketball team and their coach, Jefferson Stacy. At the time of the interview the girls were still preparing for their very first game of the season. There were some mixed feelings regarding the first game. There were a lot of emotions up in the air and some just didn’t know how to feel. They are all pretty determined to have a good season. I interviewed the majority of the team.

Me: How are you feeling about the new basketball season?

All: Good, excited, nervous, confident, all right

Me: How has practice been for you guys?

Chidera: Practice has been very tiring but it’s really fun

Jocelyn: It gives us a chance to work on things we need to work on

Aaliyah: Horrible and very rigorous, The fun parts are scrimmages and messing around

Me: Are you excited for your first game?

Chidebum: Very excited, you’re never played before

Me: Do you feel confident in your abilities to work together as a team?

Jocelyn: Yes, we work very well as a team and practice very well. Although last year was very unorganized, this year is a lot better.

Me: How do you feel about your coach this year?

Chika: We love Stacy and appreciate for being patient and actually on time this year.

Me : Do you believe that you can win your first game this season?

All: Yea!!!!

Me: What do you think each member is best at?

Chidera: Shooting

Jocelyn: Defense

Chidedum: Lay-ups

Chika: Defense

Hadya: Shooting

Aaliyah: Ball handlers

Bridgete: Offense

Me: That is so wonderful, hopefully you are all able to showcase your talents well at the first game!!.

Stay tuned for a season wrap-up!
