The tension between Justin Bieber, One Direction, and their fandoms can finally come to a rest. After weeks of anticipating the rival of both artist’s albums, Purpose and Made in the A.M., fans were finally given the answer to the long awaiting question: Who’s album will be #1 in the charts?

The day it broke news that Justin Bieber and One Direction were going to drop their albums on the same day, havoc erupted. The two fandoms had arguments that would last a lifetime. No one’s sure how serious Bieber and One Direction took the whole ordeal; however, at one point, Bieber made a comment on Snapchat that One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson subtly replied to. Whether or not those posts were serious has not been addressed.

On November 13th, Made in the A.M., fell right behind Justin Bieber’s Purpose on the iTunes chart. Purpose sat in #1 worldwide for 15 days straight. The album has been getting positive reviews. Billboard.com describes Purpose as a “blend of dance, hip-hop, R&B and classic smooth-dude vocalizing that…  truly shows [Bieber’s] growth.“ This is only the beginning of Bieber’s comeback.

As for One Direction, they made it to #1 in the iTunes UK charts. This was enough for them and their fans. Both artists deserved successful albums and that’s exactly what they got. Bieber gave his fans an “I’m Back” album and One Direction gave their fans a “Goodbye” album. At the end of the day, their fans were satisfied.
