The year 2015 has been packed with phenomenal movies. Earlier this year, blockbusters like Furious 7, Avengers Age of Ultron, and Jurassic World were tremendous successes. But the streak is not over yet! This Fall, two movies are expected to come out in theaters that many fans are excited about. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be in theaters on December 18th, and Spectre will be released a month before on November 6th.

This December, the wait is over for Star Wars fans, and sci-fi fans, in general. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the seventh installment in the highly popular franchise. The film takes place  twenty years after the events in the last movie, The Return of the Jedi. Beloved characters like Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywalker return to battle the Dark Side of the Force and a new enemy. The new trailer reveals a lot of action and mystery, and received 88 million views within the first day of release, according to Comicbook.com. The Star Wars franchise has always amazed fans with its special effects, and this one is expected to be the best. With J.J. Abrams helming the film, The Force Awakens promises a thrilling ride.

The movie Spectre is about James Bond, a British Secret Service Agent, who receives a message and ends up in Mexico City and Rome. While on his mission, he meets the “love of his life”. The trailer has me wondering what will really go on in the movie, because this is the 24th James Bond movie being made! I mean, haven’t the people had enough? “Will they get married, or will they end up hating each other somehow,” I wonder. We’ll guess we’ll find out when the movie comes out in theaters.

We got the time to ask several HMSA students  if they would see either of these movies or neither of them. Sophomore Osvaldo V. said he’d watch Spectre, but not Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Senior Ricardo A. said he’d probably watch Star Wars, but definitely Spectre. Two freshman girls, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that they’d watch the Star Wars movie, but only one of them would watch Spectre. Though some said they wouldn’t watch either of the two movies, it was great getting varying answers.

Spectre was released in theaters on November 6. The film has performed well at the box office, and as of November 12 has grossed $95,300,181 according to IMDb.com. Critics are giving the film mixed reviews, some positive, some negative, and some neutral. In short, Spectre received an average score- with of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes- but performed moderately well at the box office, remaining number 1 for its opening week.
