On March 25, 2015, millions of hearts all over the globe were shattered and ripped to pieces. Zayn Malik, former member of One Direction, quit the band. For almost seven months now, not much has been going with Zayn Malik. Here and there, fans would receive teasers and leaks to songs he’s recorded. Zayn has not revealed anything official until November 17, 2015, when he announced his new song, “Befour”. Is the ex-boyband member ready to hit the charts as a solo artist?

In a recent interview with Fader magazine, Zayn told the entire world why he left One Direction. In this interview, he exposes the horrible treatment of management and how he felt restricted. According to Zayn, it felt like “[They] were told to be happy about something that [they] weren’t happy about” (“Zayn Malik’s Next Direction”). Now signed to a different label and management, Malik is now able to express himself through the music that he creates. He’s able to speak more freely on what happened behind closed doors and show the world what he has to offer.

This interview though, has sparked chaos within the One Direction fandom. The fans are split in half; many support Zayn while many others are still bitter about the sudden departure. What intensifies the drama is the fact that Zayn revealed his song “Befour” on the one year anniversary of One Direction’s album “Four”. Is this a coincidence, or something planned?
