The Walking Dead Recap: “Knots Untie” (06×11)
Since the episode “Always Accountable,” it’s been noticeable that Abraham has been developing feelings for Sasha. On the 28th of February episode eleven “Knots Untie,” we get to see this more prominently at the start of the episode. Abraham talks with Sasha for a while, but she leaves him after breaking the news that Eugene will start patrolling in her place. Evidently bothered by the news, Abraham tells her that he’ll see her around.
Later, Abraham hangs out with his girlfriend, Rosita, who gives him a necklace she made by breaking a brake light. He is happy; however, he can’t help but think about his growing feelings for Sasha.
Back at the house, Jesus waits for Rick and Michonne to finish changing so they could talk. Carl catches Jesus and points a gun at him so Jesus quickly explains to him that he was only waiting for his parents to finish changing. Carl is surprised to see his dad and Michonne to come out of the same room though he doesn’t press forward.
They have a meeting at the building. Most of the main group is present. Jesus tells Rick that one guard can’t cover two exits and that’s how he escaped. He tells them that he was impressed with their armory, but realized that they’re low in provisions. Jesus then says his community needs things too and that both communities are in a position to help each other out. He says he can show them where he lives if they don’t believe them. Maggie asks if they are already trading with other settlements to which Jesus replies, “The world’s about to get a whole lot bigger.”
The group decide to go ahead and visit Jesus’ community. The community is pretty big with livestock and crops. Trailers surround the walls and a large manor lies on the hilltop. Jesus says the top floor can see for miles, which makes it perfect for security.
Inside the manor, Jesus introduces the group to Gregory. Gregory calls himself the boss of the community. Rick introduces himself, but gets interrupted by Gregory who tells them all to get cleaned up first. Lovely first impression. Right away, we don’t like this guy.
Maggie tries to talk to Gregory about trade. Not only does Gregory mistaken her name twice, but he also gets straight to the point (in his words, “Let’s speak the common tongue here), and tells her that Alexandria has nothing to offer to their community in exchange for food. Maggie quickly corrects him and tells him that his community is low on ammunition and medical supplies. Gregory dismisses Maggie and calls her Natalie.
Boy, do I dislike this guy.
Jesus tells Rick to give them time and that they’ll work out a compromise.
A guy named Nathan enters the community and Gregory demands to know where Tim and Marsha are. Nathan says that they’re dead because of Negan. Oh no. Not this guy again.
Apparently this ruthless Negan guy (who still hasn’t made an appearance) killed them because the “drop was light” and wanted more supplies from the community. Negan still has this guy named Craig as a hostage and told Nathan to deliver a message. In exchange for Craig, Negan wants Gregory’s head. Nathan tries to kill Gregory, but is stopped by Rick who had no choice but to kill him. The girl who was with Nathan punches Rick in the face and Michonne comes to her prince’s rescue and knocks the girl down to the ground. Michonne is just awesome.
Everyone turns against each other; then, Jesus saves the day by telling the two groups to lower their weapons. I’m so glad Jesus is good. I had a bad feeling when he was first introduced, but of course first impressions are deceiving. He seems like a genuinely nice guy.
Meanwhile, Abraham has an epiphany on the ground. Turns out, he thought about Sasha when he was at the brink of death. Guess that settles his confusion about whether he should choose Sasha over Rosita.
After the confrontation, the group has another meeting. Daryl tells Jesus, “If we go get this man back. Kill Negan. Take out his boys. Will you hook us up? We want food, medicine, one of them cows.” Jesus takes this to Gregory who’d rather discuss the negotiation with Maggie. Maggie gives Rick this Aw do I have to? look, but does so nonetheless. She convinces Gregory to go along with the deal.
So, in the end, in exchange for half of the community’s food, Rick’s community agree to attack Negan and his men.
I have an extremely bad feeling about this.
