The Groups First Releases 

The group’s name comes from the notorious drug lord Griselda Blanco. “Griselda” also refers to a loose-knit hip hop collective composed of the core signers of the label. The label has only two collaboration tapes, “Don’t Get Scared Debut” and their second one that came out in 2019, “WWCD”, including features from Eminem, 50 cent, and other hip hop icons. Its most popular song is called “DR BIRDS” produced by Daringer which was performed on the Jimmy Fallon Tonight show. 

Single Projects 

The label’s de facto Leader, Westside Gunn, has many popular features from different artists of this generation, artists such as Kanye West – “Keep My Spirit Alive”, Tyler The Creator – “327 or the Fly that Couldn’t Fly”, Asap Rocky – “Shootout in Soho”, and many other famous artists. The group’s second biggest star, Boldy James, has multiple collabs with famous hip hop producer Alan the Alchemist with hit songs “Ocean Prime” and “Great Adventures”. Benny the Butcher also has a crazy career with hit albums “The Plugs I Met, Burden of Proof ” and the “Tana Talk Series”.

The Groups Music Distributor 

The label’s music distributor is usually independent but they also have a deal with Shady Records (Eminem’s record label). They also have a deal with Rockefella Nations (Jay Z’s record label). Their own record label was made by group member Benny the Butcher.

The topic of interest lies in their physical distribution. Physical as in items that can play music in person such as vinyls, CDs and cassettes.

Daupe is a British label that specializes in making exclusive physical music, for example, they may only produce 50 or less of a product and never restock. They mainly market this exclusive media by saying that the pieces are works of art. They produce these items for exclusive artists, usually for rappers like, Lord Apex, Mavi, and most of Griselda’s record members.

Influence on Modern Music

During the turn of the decade we saw Griselda’s influence grow not just in their music discography but in their influences on mainstream music and albums like Drake and Tyler the Creator. Drake was influenced by this group’s use of looping, beats, and choppy instrumentals. By using the group and their own music producer (Conductor Williams) Drake was able to push himself into a group of underground enthusiasts that Griselda gave birth to.

Conclusion 

Through hardship and persistence the group came out of the Mud of Buffalo New York and became one of the most successful rap groups of the 2020’s.
