American Horror Story: Hotel – Recap: “Flicker” (05×07)
November 27, 2015
Last week’s episode was definitely attention grabbing. I was glued to my seat just watching. I think it was most interesting to learn about The Countess’ past. It was strange to see a whole new side to Lady Gaga’s character. She went from an innocent actor with a dream, to a hard stoned lady with pain in her heart. At least now we understand why she had such a strong desire to keep her most recent lover, Tristan Duffy. Tristan reminded The Countess of her one true love, Rudolph Valentino. Rudolph was someone she used to love in 1925, to be exact.
In her flashbacks we also understand why she didn’t give up Duffy to Liz Taylor. Seeing Duffy love another made The Countess feel the same heartbreak when she thought she lost her true love forever. We are also presented with new news about John Lowe, played by Wes Bentley. John is shown to faintly attack his close friend at the police department. John’s real reason to go was to find out who they caught, and said to be the killer of all the murders that have to do with The Ten Commandments. It was convenient for him to say he wanted to go to a hospital to get “professional help”.
In reality though, we as the audience should know he is there to uncover who the police department have locked up in that same hospital. John ends up finding a little girl being locked away. This girl was with The Ten Commandment killer when he was committing all the murders. She has information and Locke is desperate for it. Both of them escape the hospital, but as they run the girl later dies when she commits suicide by running into the road and getting hit by a truck. We also find out that The Countess’s past true love and his wife are still alive. Both hungry for blood, Rudolph Valentino and his wife, are searching for people to kill so that they can quench their thirst for blood.
We also discover that March was the one who locked Rudolph and his wife away forever, or at least until they were freed. Besides the girl killing herself, we get to see Rudolph and his wife walking down the stairs and leave through two doors of the hotel, looking stunning and as if they were never trapped for so long. We can only assume they drank all the blood necessary so that they could regain their looks and strength. Like always I’m looking forward to the next episode.
