Covid-19 (2021 Update) Part 3
June 2, 2021
As we move in over a year of lockdown, more precautions for Covid-19 appear for everyone to stay safe. As even more cases arise with record-breaking infections and deaths occurring every day, we can only question how the new government will tackle this problem and how long it will last. Here are some news and updates on Covid-19.
Statistics and Data (Worldwide)
There are now over 142 million cases worldwide with over 3 million deaths. There are also 121 million recoveries in total. Numbers this time are still high and increasing daily, but seem to not have a big difference from the last update or a few months ago.
Statistics and Data (United States)
Within America alone, there are now over 31.4 million cases and now over 564 thousand deaths. There are also over 19.4 million recoveries. Numbers here are still increasing, but not as much as before.
Vaccine Release as of February (Diminishing numbers, more testing)
We already know about the 2 companies, Moderna and Pfizer, who released an approved vaccine for the virus from the last update. With the vaccines from both companies, about 52 million doses have been administered, which is well over 11.5% of the US population. With this, more than 1.5 million vaccine shots have been administered as well. So far both of the vaccines have been effective with positive results with barely to no differences. Along with this, more companies started to also release approved versions of their vaccines. Johnson & Johnson is one of these, although most of the news of their vaccine is in lots of controversies and we have yet to figure if it’s going to be as effective. Either that, the numbers in America are increasing slowly due to the advancement of the vaccine. Pfizer is now reportedly testing its vaccine a third time to increase the effectiveness rate.
Covid-19 Vaccine (Vaccination Progress as of date)
As of now for the 1st dose of vaccines, 39.9% of the US population has gotten a vaccine, roughly 132 million people. As for the 2nd dose, 23.3% of the population has gotten the dose, roughly 77 million people.
Joe Biden and Covid-19 Death Memorial
As the US Covid-19 death toll surpassed 500,000, Joe Biden held a candlelight memorial on January 19 (6:15 pm) in service to those that had died due to Covid-19. Biden delivered words and remarks on the lives lost, and a message to the American people to not give up and to “resist becoming numb to the sorrow.” —President Biden
The Future and What will happen.
Now with official vaccines available, vaccines working into the public, more companies and corporations making formulas, and the government making it easier to get vaccinated, all would seem well as infection numbers slow and recoveries grow higher. With this in mind, we are slowly going back to normal life and are hoping that things will progress from here. Remember to stay sanitized, stay indoors, and WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES!!!
