Cross Country celebrating their successful year!

Stephanie Ibrahim, Staff Writer

On October, Friday 13, 2017, HMSA had its first Pep Rally of the school year. Pep Rallies inspire students, motivate the players before a big game, and congratulate teams on their season as they come to an end. HMSA’s pep rallies, which take place during CP, are full of cheers, lots of excitement, and celebratory music.

The pep rally started off with Sound Club playing music to hype everyone up. Senior Josue L., the “host,” entertains the students while the Volleyball and Cross-Country teams prepare to be introduced. The team coach is then announced, along with the players from each team.

Volleyball was the first team to be presented. Mr. Kircher is the coach for the varsity team and Mrs. Morris is the junior varsity coach. Seniors Amelia N. and Ashley S. are the team captains for the girls volleyball team. The players were lined up and called one by one to the front to be recognized for their team effort and hard work. Once all the players gathered in the center, Amelia gave a heartfelt speech on behalf of her team. The volleyball team left their mark, finishing with a little performance to the song, “Get’cha Head In the Game,” from High School Musical.

Once the volleyball team left the spotlight, the Boys and Girls Cross-Country teams came into the light. Mr. Highducheck, the coach for the cross-country team, gave a brief speech celebrating the team on their recent victory. Senior Luisa M. is the team captain for the girls cross-country team, and Junior Braulio G. is the team captain for the boys cross-country team. The girls cross-country team were called first: junior varsity followed by varsity. Once the girls cross-country were finished the boys were announced, following the same order.

Throughout the pep rally, there were lots of cheers and chants from the entire school and the sports themselves. Sadly, there was not enough time to play a game that ASB had planned, but everyone still had lots of fun.

Congratulations to the volleyball and cross-country teams for the accomplishments they achieved as a team and as individuals this season! Keep it up Aviators!
