Hope You Showed Your Mom Some Love this Mother’s Day

This year, Mother’s Day landed on Sunday, May 8th, so I hope you had your bouquet of red roses ready!

Mother’s Day is the one day of the year where people celebrate their mothers and show how they feel about them. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t show you your mother that you love her everyday. Mother’s Day is just a holiday to make mothers feel extra special.

According to History.com, this celebration for mothers can be traced back to Greek and Roman origins. The Greeks and Romans would organize huge festivals for their mother goddesses: Cybele and Rhea. Although, the first American Mother’s Day celebration was in 1908 when a woman named Anna Jarvis held a ceremony for her mother at a church.

Most countries around the world celebrate Mother’s Day on the 2nd Sunday of the month, while other countries celebrate it on the 4th Sunday of Lent. Mexico, however, celebrates its lovely mothers on the 10th of May. No matter what day this holiday is celebrated, the meaning is still the same and the intentions are just as sweet.

To celebrate this holiday, you could have bought your mother or a special loved one gifts such as flowers, a cake, jewelry, or anything that you thought she would’ve liked. You could have even planned a day together and gone on a picnic or to her favorite restaurant. If you’re more on the creative side, you could have painted her a picture or made her a gift she’ll never forget.

In the end, it doesn’t matter what you gave to your loved one. What matters most is that you always love and cherish her for being an amazing mom.
