Club Spotlight: Environmental Club

According to president Alejandra Vasquez, Environmental Club “is becoming a great success.” With Christmas coming up, the members of the club were feeling quite festive and decided to create a special gift for each of the teachers at HMSA. After collecting green recycled soda bottles, the club members decided to hand-make miniature Christmas trees  for teachers to put on their desks and show some holiday spirit. Speaking of recycling, don’t forget to recycle your plastic bottles and paper. After finals, look out for the Paper Drive so you can recycle any unnecessary papers you have from first semester.

Environmental members came up with a new way of recycling that may grab your attention, considering students can earn hours and free dress. The idea is called Angel Bin, and HMSA students have the opportunity to donate any unwanted clothes or shoes.  According to Yvan Sison, one of the head gardeners, within the next month the club intends on planting flowers to sell for Valentine’s Day. You can purchase these flowers for your friends, or maybe even a special someone in your life. Feel free to join and participate in all the activities they partake in during meetings, during CP 8, and after school.
