And Here’s What You Missed from the Music Industry!

Jacquelyn Flores, A&E Editor

We’re already in the second quarter of the school year and I don’t think I would be doing as emotionally okay as I am without all the new music I have from my favorite artists. (And let me tell you, Panic! at the Disco’s new music has been my homework buddy for the past 3 weeks.)

Immediately after the last school year ended, the music industry decided to throw a plethora of new albums and songs at us; the genre of music ranging from R&B to Synthpop to Indie Pop and even Alternative.

  • Lana Del Rey released her fourth studio album, Honeymoon, that ranked number 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and number 1 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart.
  • Tori Kelly’s debut album, Unbreakable Smile, hit stores and ranked number 2 on Billboard’s Top 200.

  • Halsey also released her debut album, Badlands. Her album reached number 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and led Halsey to come in as the second highest debut for a female in 2015.
  • The Weeknd debuted his second studio album, Beauty Behind the Madness, that ranked number 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
  • Australian-based band, 5 Seconds of Summer, surprised fans by releasing a long list of singles that are featured on their new album, Sounds Good Feels Good. Singles included She’s Kinda Hot, Fly Away, Jet Black Heart, and Money. This album, which has only been out for 2 and a half weeks, has since reached number 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart for two weeks in a row.

  • California-based indie rock band, The Neighbourhood, released multiple singles this summer in order to lead up to the release of their new album, Wiped Out!. The album ranked number 1 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums, which also happens to be the band’s first number 1 ranking.
  • Both Justin Bieber and One Direction decided to release their new albums on the same day in November. But you can read more about that on our new website!

If your fave didn’t release anything this summer, don’t worry! I’m almost 125% positive there is something new coming your way.
