El Clasico: FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid

FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid, the clash of Europe’s two biggest clubs, is one of the most anticipated matches each year. Both teams arguably have two of the best players in the game: Lionel Messi for FC Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid.

The game on November 21st started off quick with a goal by Barcelona’s Luis Suarez coming in by the 10th minute. Suarez scored with a sensational finish with the outside of the foot, the ball going right past Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Keylor Navas.  After that, the game was dominated by FC Barcelona and surprisingly, there was no sign of Cristiano Ronaldo anywhere. In the 15th minute, Barcelona defender Mascherano collided with James Rodriguez, leaving Mascherano in pain. He was then subbed off as a result in place for Jérémy Mathieu.

Barcelona went on to score another goal in the 38th minute. Andrés Iniesta played a pass to Neymar, who then proceeded to score with his left foot. Real Madrid had its chances to score, but ended the half with a 2-0 deficit. The only honorable mention was James Rodriguez’s near goal.

Real Madrid came into the second half with a new sense of determination as they nearly scored in the opening minutes. However, Barcelona’s goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo was on top of his game and managed to shut out the Spanish rivals. Iniesta added onto the lead as he fired a bullet to the top right corner. After the 54th minute, Messi returned to his first game in two months. 20 minutes later, Barcelona finished Real Madrid off with their final goal of the match. scored once more the goal by Luis Suarez. Real Madrid was becoming frustrated, which was indicated by Isco’s red card in the 83rd minute. Besides from the magnificent performance from Claudio Bravo, Iniesta was arguably man of the match with a goal and multiple assists to accompany it.
